Organic. Fresh. Whole ingredients. Less processing. Ingredient transparency. Those expectations transformed the human food aisle. Now pet owners are bringing many of the same expectations to the dog bowl.

National DTC brands like The Farmer’s Dog have helped introduce millions of consumers to the idea of fresh dog food. Natural Hounds is bringing that idea into the neighborhood.

    The product

It’s Basically a Fresh Market for Your Dog.

    Fresh Natural Hounds meals

People already love buying better food for their dogs. Natural Hounds gives them somewhere local to do it—rather than asking them to settle for traditional kibble or wait for a frozen box to arrive.

    The bowl is empty.

    The operation

    $685K in Sales.A Two-Person Operating Model.

This isn’t a traditional restaurant. Customers aren’t sitting at tables, and you aren’t running servers, hosts, bartenders, and line cooks. It’s primarily a specialized retail and production model built around products customers take home and feed repeatedly.

A lean footprint, straightforward customer behavior, and a product that earns its next purchase every time the bowl is empty.

    The scale

One Kitchen Can Feed More Than One Store.

Instead of recreating the entire operation every time you expand, the flagship becomes the production engine for a local network of stores.

Serve the neighborhood with a full production kitchen.

    Satellite

Natural Hounds — a better life for dogs and a better business
    Natural Hounds Babylon Village location

    The origin

It Started With a Sick Bulldog Named Biscuit.

Biscuit had chronic skin and digestive problems. Her owner, Conor, started cooking fresh meals at home. Within days, her health improved. Conor and his friend Rick began selling that food at a farmer’s market in 2018. Demand led to the first kitchen in 2021, a second in Babylon Village in 2023, and now a franchise built to bring fresh dog food into more neighborhoods.

“Because dogs cannot speak for themselves, it is our duty to advocate for them and elevate the standard of their life and nutrition.”

The Franchise Insiders point of view

We Think Fresh Dog Food Could Become a Major Franchise Category.

Natural Hounds is early, understandable, and grounded in real store performance. If fresh dog food becomes the next major pet category, owning the local network could be a very interesting position.
